Welcome to the first market update of 2025! We hope you're all as refreshed and ready for the new year as we are.
What happened last week?
Unsurprisingly it was a quiet week last week, with little to no economic news of note to report on.

What to watch out for this coming week?
Europe
- Monday 6th - German Consumer Price Index (CPI) - German CPI for the month of December set to show price rises in the EUs largest economy (forecast of 0.3%).
- Tuesday 7th - Euro-area Consumer Price Index (CPI) - Euro-area CPI data to be released for the calendar year of 2024 forecast to show inflation to be higher than 2023 (2.4% vs 2.2%).
Americas
- Monday 6th - Service Purchasing Manager index - Service PMI data for the US forecast to show growth in the Service Sector in the month of December.
- Wednesday 8th - Federal Reserve Meeting Minutes - The minutes from December's Federal Reserve meeting will be released. This will show how much support the latest interest rate cut had amongst the Committee members.
- Friday 10th - Nonfarm Payrolls - The employment change in the US for the month of December will be released, with a Christmas boost expected.
- Friday 10th - Unemployment Rate - Unemployment set to remain at 4.2% for the US.
